This year, Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition (MFFC) is proud to once again participate in the Ride for Food, an annual fundraiser hosted by Three Squares New England. Although, this is more than just your average fundraiser. This is a movement to address food insecurity and strengthen community health across Greater Boston.
Why Do We Care?
At MFFC, we believe that food access is the foundation of a healthy community. Every week at the Mattapan Farmers Market, we connect residents to fresh, local produce, support access to fresh foods through SNAP and HIP benefits, and create spaces for neighbors to come together. Last year alone, we directed $34,000 back to local farmers, helped hundreds of residents access fresh food, and distributed nearly 900 meals through our Summer Eats program.
These numbers represent real families, children, and elders in Mattapan who are nourished, supported, and cared for. That’s why we’re lacing up our sneakers for the 5K walk and hopping on our bikes for the 25-mile ride! Every step and every mile brings us closer to a healthier, more connected community.
Why Your Support Matters
Our goal this year is to raise $5,000 through the Ride for Food. These funds will allow us to continue building programs that make a difference, like our farmers market, farm stand, Woolson Street Community Garden, and projects like the Crockpot Project that empowers families with the tools and knowledge to cook at home.
When you donate, you’re not just giving to any random cause; you’re investing in a thriving Mattapan. You’re helping neighbors put fresh vegetables on the table, supporting local farmers, and fueling programs that put health and wellness at the center of community life.
How Can You Help?
Donate to our Ride for Food fundraiser! Even a contribute as small as $25 can help us reach our goal.
Join our team as a walker or rider and commit to raising funds alongside us!
Spread the word — share our page with friends, family, and coworkers who believe in food access for all.
Together, we can pedal and walk toward a future where no one has to question where their next meal will come from. 💚
