BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thousands gathered at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport for the 2026 Pinnacle Awards, as the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce celebrated women in leadership, honored for their contributions to the city.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was on hand to honor the region’s most prestigious honor for women in Boston.
“Across the country, people are looking to Boston. People are looking to the type of leadership and progress and results that our community has been known for,” Mayor Wu said.
From doctors to architects to nonprofits and more, this year’s Pinnacle Award winners are a diverse group of women in leadership, all being honored for their contributions to the city.
“Capable of being vulnerable and confident, emotional and strong, dependent and independent. I smile when I see this beautiful duality in my own daughter in my granddaughters, and in my former students,” 2026 Pinnacle Award winner and Boston Public Schools Superintendent Mary Skipper said.
“It feels like uncertainty about being in spaces I don’t belong or feel like I don’t belong, but then I ask, who said I don’t belong here. The answer is always the same, no one said anything at all,” 2026 Pinnacle Award winner and Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition Executive Director Shavel’le Olivier said.
Mayor Wu added that it is an important time for women leaders around the country.
“Women are getting things done. Women mayor, from Seattle to Miami, Madison to Boston, and leaders in every sector of our community,” Mayor Wu said.
