Mattapan on Wheels 2025
The Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition Vigorous Youth invites you to our 15th Annual Mattapan on Wheels (MoW) Bike-a-thon
Join us as we honor 15 incredible years of community, cycling, and empowerment! What started as a youth-led vision has grown into a Mattapan tradition — bringing neighbors together, promoting health and joy, and reclaiming our streets with pride. Here’s to the riders, volunteers, and supporters who made every mile meaningful. Let’s keep rolling toward justice, joy, and a stronger Mattapan!

Volunteer at MoW
We need volunteers to help pull together this event!

You don't need to know how to ride a bike to volunteer either. Help out with setting up the event, getting attendees organized, and handing out giveaways.

Youth Waiver
For safety reasons, children under 12 years old are not permitted to ride without an adult. For riders 17 and under, an adult must sign a waiver form before the event if you are riding alone.
No child will be permitted to ride alone without the signed waiver. Make sure to register as well!

The Bike Trails
We have trails for every experience level!

Sandy Shores Ride: 8 miles. Destination: Tenean Beach
This is a very green and scenic route. Participants on this ride will be able to ride the completed Neponset Trail starting in Mattapan. The route is 90% flat and mostly on a walking/biking path. There is a small hill at Pope John Paul II Park .

Exploring Chapel Rocks: 12 miles, Quincy
This ride is a mixture of path (Neponset Trail) and street riding it is mostly flat. This is an out and back ride. In the last quarter mile there will be an opportunity to practice your mountain biking skills, those who aren't interested can walk your bike to final destination of Chapel Rocks. We will have 20 minutes at the final destination to explore.
MFFC’s Favorite - Ride to Castle Island: 20 miles, South Boston
This route is very scenic, with extensive views of the Neponset River and Dorchester Beaches. The expert route will take riders on the same path as the Family and Intermediate routes but is longer but continue all the way to Castle Island. On our way, bikers will have to stop when turning onto Morrissey Boulevard, get off their bikes for a few seconds, and then continue on. This route is mostly flat, except when crossing Morrissey Boulevard to continue on the trail. We will have 30 minutes at the final destination to explore.
