Celebrate 20 years of Community & Impact with Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition!

Join us on September 27, 2026 for a celebration of those who contributed to where we are today and all the amazing work we have coming up!​

Since 2006, MFFC has been a powerful force in the community by expanding access to culturally relevant food, advancing transportation justice, and creating opportunities for Mattapan residents to thrive.

Built off of the work of dedicated volunteers, our work has continued to promote a healthy living environment for all ages!

Keynote Speaker

Born the oldest of four boys to a single teen mom on public assistance, Craig Andrade grew up in the housing projects of Boston and Brockton, Massachusetts, directly experiencing poverty, drugs abuse, violence, trauma, rich community and abundant love – all that spark and drive his advocacy practice.

Craig is a registered nurse, athletic trainer, licensed massage therapist, strength and conditionspecialist, health educator and racial equity activist and facilitator with masters and doctoral degrees in public health from Boston University School of Public Health.​

Previously Dr. Andrade served a as acute care, cardiac critical care and public health nurse at Boston Medical Center; nurse manager and head athletic trainer at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA; and was owner/operator of Active Health, a private health and fitness company. He served as Associate Dean of Health and Wellness and Director of Student Health Services at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. And lead as Director of the Bureau of Family Health & Nutrition at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), helping found the Racial Equity Leadership Team and Cross-Department Racial Equity Collaborative at DPH.


Craig serves as Associate Professor of Practice in Community Health Sciences at Boston University’s School of Public Health. He also served as Associate Dean of Practice and Director of The Activist Lab at BU working to catalyze bold public health practice that promotes racial justice and health equity locally, nationally and globally. His advocacy and research interests include health promotion, racial equity, maternal and child health, healthy socialization of boys and men, fatherhood engagement and behavioral risk management and resilience building among children, adolescents and young adults.
